Shawfair 33kV Cable Reinforcement Project

HVEC were awarded a contract to install a new 33KV circuit through a busy area of Edinburgh along the A7 trunk road in order to reinforce the local DNO’s network ahead of a future housing project. These works were mainly carried out in winter conditions and aligned to accommodate another contractors emergency works on an adjacent gas distribution pipeline. HVEC delivered the following scope of works on the project:

• Installation of 3.6km’s of trenching and ducting to accommodate 2 new 33kV circuits .
• Reinstatement of the highways and footpaths to the desired HAUC specifications and satisfaction of the local council.
• Excavation and reinstatement of 10 no joint bays in the carriageway and footway.
• Installation of the 33kV cables.
• Disposal of all trench arisings to local recycling facilities.
